Poetic still-lifes with creative, unusual objects. "Artists work from instinct as well as from knowledge, from the unconscious as well as consciousness. Artists must allow any image or combination of images to surface -- in the name of expressive truth -- if the image insists on doing so. The two heads, like planets in the night sky, have become part of the heavens rather than the 'sweetness' of life on earth. In a narrower aesthetic sense, the heads balance the piece of cake and chocolate donut. The apples, stones and vertebrae express earthly things in contrast with, or part of, the bigger cosmic picture...towards which they aspire. This still-life may represent aspects of the cosmic mystery, the mystery of existence. The expressiveness and beauty of color and form of everyday things of life are always paramount to me."
